An upcoming staged concert of the new musical Frankenstein, based on the Mary Shelley novel about a man and his monster, will star Broadway veterans Ron Bohmer and Davis Gaines.

The event will take place at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center from September 29th through October 1st.

The musical is "a bold musical adaptation of the classic Mary Shelley novel, created by a trio of New Jersey artists: composer Mark Baron, and book author-lyricists Gary P. Cohen and Jeffrey Jackson. Presented in a concert format, this developmental production combines stirring music, drama and imagery to tell the timeless story of a brilliant young scientist determined to master life and death. When he creates a creature of his own design, he sets in motion a tragic, terrifying chain of events that tear his world asunder, leading him on a harrowing quest to stop his murderous monster – and redeem his own tortured soul," state notes on the NJPAC website.

Also in the cast will be Christeena Riggs, Blake Whyte, Richard White, Struan Erlenborn, Becky Gulsvig, Aaron Serosky, Sara Glendening, Becky Barta, Robert Anthony Jones, Gary Harger, Patrick Mellen, and Tobi Foster.  Gaines will play Dr. Victor Frankenstein.

The event will be directed by Bill Fennelly, with David S. Stone as executive producer.

Bohmer's Broadway credits include The Woman in White, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Fiddler on the Roof and Les Miserables.  Off-Broadway, he has been seen in I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change and The Thing About Men, among others.

Gaines has played both the title role and Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera.  He has also appeared on Broadway in Camelot.  Other stage credits include Damn Yankees, Guys and Dolls and Les Miserables.  He is also a concert and cabaret artist.
