Bock Art Limited Hosts Bay Street Benefit, 8/12
By: Kelsey Denette
Bay Street Theatre announced today that Bock Art Limited is hosting a silent art auction and reception at its 16 Hill Street gallery in Southampton on Friday, August 12 from 5 - 7 pm. Proceeds from the silent auction will benefit Bay Street Theatre and Southampton Hospital. The event is free and is open to the public.
All the paintings in the silent auction are by Charles Bock. They are unusual-bold and provocative, yet elegant in their simplicity. His work begins with his photographs which are abstract in their original composition. He then modifies them using techniques intended both to develop color, texture, and character, and to expose hidden or obscure qualities which he believes to be inherent in the subject matter. When that process is complete, the resulting images are applied to archival, museum-quality canvas to create extraordinary paintings. Some of his paintings are currently on display in the Bay Street Theatre lobby. Bock is also an antitrust lawyer who advises hedge fund clients respecting competition issues in their merger arbitrage investments. He owns commercial real estate and is a dedicated chess player.
