Bieber Eyes 'Grease' Remake with Cyrus

Bieber_Eyes_Grease_Remake_with_Cyrus_20010101

The U.K. Sun has reported that teen pop star Justin Bieber has his sights set on the big screen and would like to make his leading man debut in a remake of the movie musical, Grease, alongside contemporary Miley Cyrus.  Bieber tells The Sun: "It would be a lot of fun. It's been talked about a lot over the years but it would be awesome to play Danny." When asked about a potential co-star Bieber was quick to respond: "I would go for Miley Cyrus without hesitation. She can sing, dance and act...I'd want some great people to star in it. Wouldn't Susan Boyle make an amazing Principal McGee? We'd just need to write it into the script that she broke into song."

Other names on his wish list of co-stars include Cheryl Cole as part of the cheerleading squad.

Grease, the movie, is based on WarRen Casey's and Jim Jacobs's musical, of the same name about two lovers in a 1959 high school. The film, released in 1978, starred John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John, Stockard Channing, and Jeff Conaway, and was directed by Randal Kleiser.

Grease opened on Broadway in 1972 and closed in 1980. It's 3,388-performance run was the longest yet in Broadway history, although surpassed by A Chorus Line a few years later. It went on to become a West End hit, and inspired two Broadway revivals in 1994 and 2007. It is a staple of regional theatre, summer stock, community theatre, and high school and middle school drama groups.
