ABOUT BE.THE.CHANGE (UGANDA):

Be.the.Change (Uganda) is a nonprofit organization that provides education, mentoring, and basic needs for the lives of children in Uganda. BTC offers housing, medical care, a village mentor, and monthly allowances for food and transportation. The organization currently sponsors eleven students living in Ndejje Village outside of Kampala; many of whom have lost one or both parents to the AIDS epidemic. The goal of BTC is to holistically care for these students by offering a family environment for those who are orphaned in the hopes that it can create a sense of responsibility for themselves and their community. By doing this, BTC hopes to secure their futures and help raise up the next generation of leaders who will help cultivate a better Uganda.

Be.the.Change (Uganda) was founded by Griffin Matthews, host of People.com's I HEART DWTS. Griffin founded BTC after spending six weeks volunteering in Uganda and adopted Andrew Kakumirizi, a 19 year old Ugandan boy. He returned home and began telling his story to schools, Universities, community groups, family and his friends. The organization has volunteers from around the country and hosts fundraisers in New York City to raise money for its student's school fees.
