Ben Folds, Regina Spektor, Common & More Will Record for the HAMILTON MIXTAPE Album

The HAMILTON cast album has already won a Grammy Award, and creator Lin-Manuel Miranda is already hard at work on his next album for the show. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Miranda will release 'The Hamilton Mixtape', due later this year- featuring remixes and covers of songs from the hit show.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, he revealed more about the project, including that Busta Rhymes, Ben Folds, Regina Spektor, Latifah, Common, and Chance the Rapper will all record songs. He explained: "People are coming out of the woodwork, knocking on the door. Half the songs are cover versions of songs in the show, and the others are interpolations- we'll take some of this, some of that, and make something new out of it."

As for whether we can expect a track from LMM himself, he added: "I'm not going to be on it because for me the goal is to keep this inspired by the original."

The new musical Hamilton has book, music and lyrics by Tony and Grammy Award-winning composerLin-Manuel Miranda, who also plays the title role. The musical is directed by Thomas Kail, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and music direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire. Hamilton is inspired by Ron Chernow's biography "Alexander Hamilton."

HAMILTON is the acclaimed new musical about the scrappy young immigrant Alexander Hamilton, the $10 Founding Father who forever changed America with his revolutionary ideas and actions. During his life cut too short, he served as George Washington's chief aide, was the first Treasury Secretary, a loving husband and father, despised by his fellow Founding Fathers and shot to death by Aaron Burr in their legendary duel.
