Bay Street Theater Announces Summer Line-up With Feinstein, Snow, Buckley & More

Spring has sprung and Bay Street Theatre is proud to announce its' star-filled summer line-up, with celebrities and productions to suit a variety of tastes. From New York City witches to a dinner party from hell, from Dames at Sea to the musical talents of Michael Feinstein and Betty Buckley on shore-the Bay Street stage promises to be aglow in summer fun.

Memorial Weekend kicks off on Friday and Saturday May 22 & 23rd at 8pm, with two nights of Snow-Grammy-nominated Phoebe Snow that is! From the album that spawned her top hit "Poetry Man" to her recordings and tours with the most famous musicians of our time, Phoebe Snow's career began at the Bitter End in 1972 and she continues to be one of the most distinctive singer songwriters of our day. On Sunday, May 24th at 8pm the musical fun continues with Broadway's husband wife duo Marin Mazzie & Jason Danieley performing songs from their award-winning careers that have taken them from Broadway to London's West End to the Hollywood Bowl and back. All tickets for Memorial weekend shows are $65 while they last.

Other Special Performance Evenings are sure to delight. On June 22nd at 8pm four-time Grammy nominee Michael Feinstein returns. With 24 releases under his belt, Feinstein is arguably one of the world's most famous performers of the Great American Songbook. Tickets are $100 and proceeds from this special evening will be used to support the Roddy McDowall Production Fund which will enhance Bay Street's theatrical productions each summer. On July 4th Weekend, Betty Buckley returns with an all new show that has the critics raving. Performances Friday, July 3 at 8pm, Saturday July 4 at 7 and 10pm. Tickets for Betty Buckley are $75. Beyond her performances, Ms. Buckley will be offering Master Vocal classes, with details available soon at www.baystreet.org.

The Elaine Steinbeck Stage at Bay Street will again be home to three fully-staged theatrical productions, each running for four consecutive weeks. The summer begins with Bell, Book, & Candle by John Van Druten and runs June 2-28th. Directed by Tony award-winning Director Jack Hofsiss, this magical brew simmers with fun and served as the inspiration for the television series Bewitched. From July 7 thru August 2nd it's the American Premiere of Dinner, by Moira Buffini. A wickedly satirical comedy, Dinner reminds us that ‘revenge is a dish best served cold', though at this dinner party it is served nearly frozen. The musical delight Dames at Sea, with music by Jim Wise and book and lyrics by George Haimsohn and Robin Miller, rounds out the summer from August 11 thru September 6th. This tongue in cheek valentine to the 1930's Hollywood musical is one the entire family can enjoy. Underwritten in part by the Joseph and Joan Cullman Theatre Fund, The New York Times calls it "A gem of a musical." Subscriptions and single tickets for all three Main Stage shows are on sale now. Subscription rates start at $150 for all three shows. Single tickets range from $55-75.

To tickle the funny bone (and who couldn't use a good laugh this year?), the Bay Street Comedy Club returns with Monday night fun. Comics this year include Caroline Rhea, Louie Anderson, David Brenner, Jim Breuer, Susie Essman, Mario Cantone, Robert Klein, Janeane Garofalo and Rob Riggle. In addition, Producer Eugene Pack returns with his popular off Broadway hit sensation Celebrity Autobiography: In Their Own Words. Says the NY Post, "What could be funnier than celebrities reading from the heartfelt writings of other celebrities?" All comedy begins at 8pm. Tickets are $60 and sell out quickly.
