Rising Action Theatre, Inc, presents the National Tour of 'Bathhouse: The Musical!'

Rising Action Theatre, 840 East Oakland Park Blvd, Oakland Park Fl 33334, announced a 3-week engagement of the musical comedy Bathhouse: The Musical! beginning in Ft. Lauderdale August 20 and continuing through September 7, 2008.

The 2008 National Tour Cast from New York will perform the musical that won Patron's Pick at the 2006 Orlando Fringe. The National Tour began this summer and has traveled to cities including Orlando; Tampa; Rochester, NY; Buffalo, NY; and Cleveland, OH. Independent productions of Bathhouse have been seen in Atlanta, GA; Syracuse, NY; FL; New Orleans, LA; Cape Town, South Africa and London, England.

'Bathhouse: The Musical!,' written by Esther Daack and Tim Evanicki, follows the story of Billy, a wide-eyed youth venturing into a bathhouse for the first time. He's looking for love, but soon realizes that the other patrons are looking for something a little more temporary. Taking cues from crowd-pleasers like Forever Plaid and Naked Boys Singing, 'Bathhouse: The Musical!' promises loads of laughs, original songs, four guys in towels, and a bit of heart. This show is intended for mature audiences as it contains adult themes, colorful language, and scantily-clad men.

The 2008 National Tour is produced by Downstairs Cabaret Theatre, which is well-known nationally for developing Nunsense and producing the world premiere of Forever Plaid, as well as recent National Tours of Ain't Misbehavin', Snoopy: The Musical, Shout: The Mod Musical, and The Great American Trailer Park Musical.

There is a special Fundraiser for the theatre Sunday August 24 where you can see the show at 7 pm, and party with the cast afterward with a wine tasting, hors d'oeuvres and dessert. Tickets for the fundraiser are $50. The fundraiser enables the theatre to raise funds for a matching grant of $7500 from The John Graves Memorial Trust.  Please contact the theater, via their website or phone numbers below, for more information about attending the fundrasier.

The musical will be performed Wed and Fri at 8 pm; Saturday at 7 & 10 and Sunday at 7 pm. Tickets are $25-30. Tickets are available at www.risingactiontheatre.com or by calling 1-800-595-4849. Tickets are also available at OUT (cash only) 2256 Wilton Drive in Wilton Manors. Groups call 954-815-8826.
