For the first time ever in the history of Amazon, a mother and her son have number one albums during the week of their release.

Barbra Streisand’s Release Me holds the number one spot in the Broadway & Vocalists, General Vocal Pop, and Contemporary Vocal Pop categories. And Gould’s premiere, self titled EP: Jason Gould, holds the number one spot for MP3 compilations in the Broadway & Vocalists category.

In an unparalleled career, Streisand has released more than 60 albums. Many of the sessions for these albums yielded extra recordings, which weren’t included on the albums they were intended for. They’ve all been stored in her vault until now. Over the past year, Barbra has painstakingly gone through the recordings to come up with this collection, Release Me.

Gould worked with Stephan Oberhoff to produce the five tracks on his first EP Jason Gould, and his follow up EP, In Time, is set to be released soon. Gould is also joining Streisand on her current tour, Back to Brooklyn, where the two perform together for the first time.

When asked why he was doing this now, Gould said, “The answer is simple: to explore the part of myself that always wanted to make music. I finally got to the place in my life where the fear of not being good enough was not as great as my need to express myself.”
