Bailiwick Presents 'A Man of No Importance'

By:

Celebrate the genius of Oscar Wilde, the boisterous streets of Dublin and the joys of creating live theatre through this heartfelt story of Alfie Byrne's road to self-discovery, as told by Terrence McNally, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, who wrote last year's hits My Favorite Year and Ragtime.

Described as a rare gem in musical theatre, A Man Of No Importance explores the life of a bus conductor in Dublin who enchants his passengers with poetry readings by day and spends his evenings directing the local community theatre in plays by his idol Oscar Wilde. Through the course of tumultuous rehearsals for a production of Wilde's Salome he learns much about life and art, and begins to come to terms with his own true nature.

This compelling story by playwright Terrence McNally brims with passion, humor and sexual awakenings, coupled with a gorgeous score by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, with Irish-inspired music, verse and dance. A Man of No Importance is directed by Scott Ferguson, with musical direction by Robert Ollis.

A Man Of No Importance previews on Thursday, Friday and Saturday March 13th, 14th, and 15th at 7:30 PM, and on Sunday March 16th at 3:30 PM. Preview tickets are $20.00 Thursday, and $25.00 on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The show opens on St Patrick's Day, Monday March 17th at 7:00 PM ($30.00 includes reception), and will show regularly on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 PM, and Sundays at 3:30 PM through April 20th. Tickets are $25.00 for Thursday, $30.00 on Friday and Sunday shows, and $35.00 for Saturday shows and can be purchased online at www.Bailiwick.org.
