CHICAGO's "Talk Tuesdays" were designed to provide theatergoers with an exclusive, behind-the-scenes glimpse into the world of CHICAGO! The latest "Talkback" " featured a post-show conversation with five-time Tony Award-winning costume designer William Ivey Long.
With more than 50 Broadway productions to his credit, William Ivey Long is currently represented on Broadway with the costume designs for Chicago, Hairspray and Young Frankenstein. He has received Best Costume Design Tony Awards for Nine, Crazy for You, The Producers, Hairspray andGrey Gardens.
Other career highlights include Lend Me a Tenor, Smokey Joe's Cafe, Cabaret (revival), Annie Get Your Gun (revival), Contact, The Boy from Oz, Little Shop of Horrors, The Frogs, La Cage aux Folles, A Streetcar Named Desire, Sweet Charity, Curtains and The Ritz.
This season, he will design costumes for the Broadway revival of Pal Joey and the new musical 9 to 5. Long has also designed for the Rolling Stones Steel Wheels Tour and for Siegfried and Roy at the Mirage Hotel. He was inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame in January 2006.
The next "Talkback Tuesdays" offering is set for Tuesday, November 18, 2008, featuring a post-show conversation with two-time Tony Award nominee and the show's current Roxie Hart, Charlotte d'Amboise.
As an added bonus, the Tuesday, November 18 talkback will be moderated by Ms. d'Amboise's father, legendary choreographer and ballet dancer Jacques d'Amboise.
On Friday, November 14, 2008, Broadway's six-time Tony Award-winning smash hit musical CHICAGO celebrated two major milestones: its 12th Anniversary and its 5,000th performance on The Great White Way. Among its myriad of honors, CHICAGO has the distinction of being the second longest-running show currently on Broadway, the eighth longest-running production in Broadway history and Broadway's longest-running musical revival...and it still shows no sign of slowing down!
Produced by Barry and Fran Weissler, CHICAGO opened on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on November 14, 1996. It transferred to the Shubert Theatre on February 4, 1997 and later moved to its current home at the Ambassador Theatre on January 29, 2003.
The Broadway production received six 1997 Tony Awards (including Best Musical Revival), five Drama Desk Awards, five Outer Critics Circle Awards and the Grammy Award for Best Cast Recording.
