BYE BYE BIRDIE Flashback Interview: Susan Egan 2009/11/12 Posted: 11/13/2009 The story that Susan Egan tells about the performance in Seattle where they stopped the show when Tommy Tune won the Tony. I was actually at that performance. It's one of my favorite theater going memories. Glad to know it's one of hers too. They actually had cameras all over the theater as they were doing a via satellite thing where they showed numbers from touring revivals around the country and they had Tommy and Ann do the finale of the show for the cameras before the show even started. After they did that number and they reset for the top of the show they announced that he also won for choreography and he gave his acceptance speech from backstage with Ann. Then later he won for best director and that's when they stopped the show as Susan recounts and that speech was made on stage. It was thrilling. They told us beforehand it might happen and they would stop the show if it did. So when the annoucement "Stop the show" came over the speakers the crowd went nuts. And of course everyone ran to the phones at intermission screaming "Record the Tony's!" to anyone at home. Due to the time difference it hadn't aired on our coast yet. Just a great moment! Canada 'ADDING MACHINE' Just Doesn't Add Up 2009/11/12 Posted: 11/13/2009 Yeah, it seems kind of silly to complain about the expressionist music that is in this musical of a famous expressionist play. Words like "tedious, boring, and repetitious" really say more about the reviewer rather than the play. I'm sure the music to Follies or Phantom of the Opera would seem "tedious, boring, and repetitious" to, say, a child who didn't understand the musical style. I think it's fine for critics to say "I don't like this," but it's a whole different ball game when they say it's "bad." Harvey Fierstein to Replace Topol in North American Tour of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF 2009/11/11 Posted: 11/13/2009 A Tevye in his 50s is credible - a Tevye in his 70's, not so much. BRIGADOON Opens At Wagner College 11/18 2009/11/05 Posted: 11/13/2009 Brigadoon is a beautiful story but this particular production of it is phenomenal, served by the beautiful talent of the cast!<3 Carla Gordon Salutes Bea Arthur 11/22 At Davenport's 2009/11/12 Posted: 11/13/2009 With all the wonderful things Miss Arthur has done in her life including the Ali Center, wouldn't it be great to see her final interview, in HER OWN WORDS talking about her career etc. I love your site and I thought you might like it. We need to contact Merv Griffin Productions and see if entire interview will be aired. I'd hate for an full interview with Bea or the other legendary ladies in the clip to go unseen.
