RSC Announce Twelfth Night and Arabian Nights
Posted: 10/19/2009
Saw Twelfth Night on Sat - absolutely brilliant production. Laughed all the way through - I will never forget Richard Wilcon in yellow cross garter stockings!! The players were all brilliant down to the last member, and well casted. The Fool was funny, mischevious & sang beautifully. The simplicity of the courtyard theatre, with little props allowed you to truly become engrossed in the performances. I'm going to try to see it when it comes to London too. Bravo!

We pretty much agree, but of course, I have to be a lot wordier about it. It's a curse.

Miss Cates chooses to play Tracy as such? I am led to believe she was directed that way; to be harsh, demanding and short with others. That's who Tracy starts out being and it seems thats what makes the characters' transformation so great. By the end of the show she acknowledges her short comings, lack of manners and abruptness and vows to change. At least that's the message that stuck with me after seeing the show. Life is too short to be nasty to others. Furthermore the book and Miss Cates were honored with AriZoni awards. Isn't it based on a person who is still living and very much a part of the production team? I can't imagine Miss Cates is that far off the mark of the actual person she is playing if she was, as an article stated, "hand selected by Laurie Frey" the woman upon who the story is based. I unfortunately did not see the rest of this cast, but I am glad it's had a life beyond AZ.

If Perez Hilton decides to cover and exploit Broadway in any way shape or form, Broadway will be done with. What in God's name is that hack doing backstage when other more deserving hard-working, dedicated local media can cover the story. Perez Hilton + Broadway = NoWay!

I've seen Madeline Chilese in past performances and she is simply a delight to watch! I can't wait to see her in "Horrible." Keep your eye on her--I predict she'll go far in her career.

Great show today. Despite what the articles say, they are using 25 musicians rather than the full 30 of the original orchestration. Not sure how they would fit another five people into that pit, but the tuba would have rounded out the bottom.
