Harold Prince and Susan Stroman will direct an all-American cast in the world premiere of Paradise Found at the Menier Chocolate Factory. Based on the novel The Tale of the 1002nd Night by Viennese author Joseph Roth, Paradise Found previews from 19 May with press night on 26 May. With music by Johann Strauss II, adapted and arranged by Jonathan Tunick, Paradise Found has book by Richard Nelson and lyrics by Ellen Fitzhugh. The production will run until 26 June. Set design is by Beowulf Boritt, with costumes designed by Judy Dolan, lighting by Howell Binkley and sound by Gareth Owen.

Tell us about your character.
I play the Grand Vizier in the play. He is a nervous functionary of the Great Shah. He tries to facilitate the Shah's trip to Vienna; but mostly ends up baffled by it all. I also play the pompous and clueless soap manufacturer, whose wife is a very prominent mistress of the Baron Von Taittinger. I also play the fake and farcical Shah in the musical number within the play within the play. Later in the play. I will try to get this all straight as rehearsals proceed.

My wife and I are thrilled to be coming back to London for an extended stay. We've been three or four times, but never get to stay long enough. We love London and the UK

Tell us about your character.
I'm playing the Shah of Persia. He has a hundred wives, but has become impotent from boredom. His Chief Eunuch suggests travel and "adventure" as a cure. They set off for Vienna, a city filled with beautiful women and beautiful music, which, the Eunuch promises, will re-awaken his desires.
Are you looking forward to coming to London?
I have not worked in London since I filmed the television movie Murrow in the Eighties. I look forward to working at the Menier Chocolate Factory, having heard such wonderful things about the theatre and seen terrific stuff which has come from there. It's a treat to arrive with such a special company of performers, and it's always exciting to work with Hal Prince anywhere in the world. Can't wait to re-visit the West End and the grand museums.
