BWW TV Exclusive: Cast of AMERICAN IDIOT Preps for UK Tour!

Earlier this week, the cast of AMERICAN IDIOT set out for Southhampton, where they will launch the UK tour of Green Day's explosive, award-winning Broadway rock musical, which will culminate in a London season at the legendary HMV Hammersmith Apollo from December 4 - 16. Before the company left for he UK, they invited BroadwayWorld's Randy Rainbow to a New Jersey salon, where they gathered to get haircuts, dye jobs and receive overall touch-ups on their punk rock looks. The story of three boyhood friends, each searching for meaning in a post 9-11 world, AMERICAN IDIOT, will open at Southampton's Mayflower Theatre (October 8 - 13) then tour to Cardiff's Millennium Centre (October 15 - 20); Edinburgh Playhouse (October 22 - 27); Glasgow Clyde Auditorium (October 29 - November 3); Dublin Bord Gáis Energy (November 5 - 10); Manchester Palace Theatre (November 12 - 24); Birmingham Alexandra?Theatre (November 26 - December 1); and then a two-week London season at HMV Hammersmith Apollo (December 4 - 16).

Alex Nee will star as Johnny, along with Thomas Hettrick as Tunny, Casey O'Farrell as Will, Alyssa DiPalma as Whatsername, Jenna Rubaii as The Extraordinary Girl, Kennedy Caughell as Heather and Trent Saunders as St. Jimmy.

AMERICAN IDIOT will also feature ensemble members Aurie Ceylon, Carson Higgins, Antwaun Holley, Daniel C. Jackson, Brandon Kalm, John Krause, Alison Morooney, Turner Rouse, Jr., Jamal Shuriah, Dustin Harris Smith, Ashley Tobias, Chelsea Turbin and Jared Young.

Randy Rainbow is a writer, actor, comedian and Internet celebrity based in New York City. Rainbow is most notable for a series of humorous YouTube viral videos which appear regularly on popular sites such as PerezHilton.com, Towleroad, Queerty and VH1's BestWeekEver.tv. His breakout video, 'Randy Rainbow is Dating Mel Gibson,' received more than 70,000 views in one week and has since surpassed 113,000 views. Randy was a theatrical critic/interviewer for HX Magazine (one of New York's most prominent gay publications) and has hosted and performed in numerous theatrical concerts and benefit performances around NYC. He has been heard as both a guest and guest co-host on Sirius XM OutQ's "Derek and Romaine Show". Randy most recently appeared on the VH1 special, 'The 100 Greatest Songs of the 2000's' and is slated to appear on their upcoming special 'The 100 Greatest Child Stars'.
