Last year, BroadwayWorld.com, the largest theater website on the Internet, launched a comprehensive Student Database listing college and university performing arts programs across the country. This free service makes it easier for prospective students by showcasing programs searchable by schools, location, degrees and concentrations.

With the new school year in full gear, BWW has updated the fully-interactive Student Show Calendar with 2011-2012 student productions. We have also made it easy for schools to upload photos, videos, cast lists, articles and other media content for each of their shows. In addition, BWW will be combing through all content regularly and will launch weekly feature stories highlighting productions locally and nationally that have provided us with this extra content. ***

In this week's edition, we're excited to announce that the Department of Theatre Arts at Ithaca College has been selected as BWW's School in the Spotlight! Situated in Ithaca, New York, the Department of Theatre Arts is a nationally recognized academic program offering students five degree programs: a BA in Theatre Studies, BFA in Acting, BFA in Musical Theatre, BS in Theatre Arts Management, and a BFA in Theatrical Production Arts, as well as a minors in theatre and dance. Ithaca College's Theatre program provides students the discipline and preparation necessary for a professional career by offering a blend of rigorous academic learning and the opportunity to thrive in the school's production laboratory and on the main stage. Of note is the impressive list of alumni who have gone on to work and star in Broadway shows and regional productions: Ben Fankhauser, Aaron Tveit, Zachary James, Jeremy Jordan, Matt Cavanaugh, Tony Meola, Kerry Butler, Paul Gallo, Greg Mosher, Mark Price and Ben Feldman, to name a few.

The Department's busy 2011-2012 production season began with the war drama 'Plumfield, Iraq' by Barbara Lebow. For photos and to read a review, please click here. On stage now thru Saturday, November 12, is the musical 'The Light in The Piazza' starring Celeste Rose and Bruce Landry. Stop by the show's page to check out some photos and to read an article on this much-awaited production. The season will continue with theater and dance offerings including 'Illuminated Bodies', 'Working', 'Measure for Measure', as well as Mozart's 'The Magic Flute', put on as a collaboration between the Department of Theatre Arts and the School of Music.
