Last year, BroadwayWorld.com, the largest theater website on the Internet, launched a comprehensive Student Database listing college and university performing arts programs across the country. This free service makes it easier for prospective students by showcasing programs searchable by schools, location, degrees and concentrations.

With the new school year in full gear, BWW has updated the fully-interactive Student Show Calendar with 2011-2012 student productions. We have also made it easy for schools to upload photos, videos, cast lists, articles and other media content for each of their shows. In addition, BWW will be combing through all content regularly and will launch weekly feature stories highlighting productions locally and nationally that have provided us with this extra content. ***

This week, we are excited to announce that the School of Theatre Arts at Illinois Wesleyan University has been chosen for BWW Student Center's Spotlight of the Week! Located in Bloomington, Illinois, the School of Arts offers undergraduate students a pre-professional training in a liberal arts setting. Through both a practical and academic approach to the arts, the department strives to challenge students through its comprehensive plan of study as well as performance opportunities, on and off-campus activities, and guest artist days. The University offers a BA in Theatre as well as BFAs in Theatre, Musical Theatre, and Design and Technology. Also available are minors in Theatre, Dance and Arts Management. Alumni from the School of Theatre Arts who have gone on to work in the industry in performance and other capacities include D. William Duell, Richard Jenkins, James Sutorius, Alison Vesely, Larry Neumann Jr., Lisa Marie Gigante D'Amico, Nic Diamond, and Mary Heaton Carrick.

This year, student productions have included 'Once Upon a Mattress', 'Election Day', and their most recent production of 'Hello Again' (click here for photos!). The stage season will kick off again in the new year with the classic 'Tartuffe' in February and move on to 'Promenade'. Capping the school year will be 'Adaptation' as well as an original adaptation of 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'. For more information and tickets to these shows, please click here

Congratulations on this week's Spotlight, Illinois Wesleyan! We're rooting for you as you continue your school year!
