Goldilocks and the Three Bears is the second musical in a "trilogy of trios" from the incredibly talented George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, alongside previously released The Three Little Pigs and The Three Billy Goats Gruff which will make an appearance next year. This popular and well-known fairytale; Goldilocks is presented as a short 50-minute musical and provides fun for all ages, alongside being educational and moralistic for children aged 3+.

The original production of Goldilocks and the Three Bears was directed by book writer and lyricist Anthony Drewe and was produced by the Singapore Repertory Theatre's Little Company at the DBS Arts Centre in 2013. Since this production, the show has been translated into Mandarin and has recently enjoyed a sell-out run at the SRT.

As ever, Stiles and Drewe have attracted a stellar cast to feature on the cast recording including David Bedella, Leanne Jones, James Gillan, Amy Lennox and Michael Xavier; familiar names if you have listened to previous works by the composer and lyricist.

The recording is easily identifiable as one of Stiles and Drewe's. A lot of the music is heavily reliant on catchy piano melodies which alongside energised vocals is the perfect recipe. 'Porridge' is very playful and brilliantly led by Leanne Jones as Mother Bear. Michael Xavier shines as the lumberjack in the super catchy 'Wood is Good' but my favourite musical number is definitely the sassy 'Just Because I'm A Girl' sung perfectly by Amy Lennox (Goldilocks). David Bedella's smooth vocals as Father Bear are also stand-out in 'Who's Been'.

Sim G Records have yet again captured an accomplished production professionally and of top quality.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears is released on 29th July 2015 and can be pre-ordered from www.simgproductions.com.
