BWW Blog: Touring MARY POPPINS' Nicolas Dromard - Day #4

By:

Thursday. Usually a day of only one show. A day where a paycheck is magically delivered to your bank account by direct deposit or by check to your hands by a company manager... Well today was no ordinary Thursday! First of all, because it is our last week in Los Angeles, the crew will be loading out the show right after the matinee on Sunday to get it to the east coast so they changed the schedule around to have a matinee and an evening performance today. Tonight's audience was off the HOOK! They were hooting and hollering and clapping and screaming and making us feel like rockstars. I'm sorry to say that a good audience gets a better performance out of people on stage. Not that much better, but still, if we have a crowd that is incredible, the actors will be electrified and have more energy. That's just the truth.

I went and had brunch with an old Broadway Bert, Adam Jon Fiorentino and his wife Deone Zanotto today. We went to the Alcove in Los Feliz, this great cafe and bakery. LA is always a place to see celebrities and funnily enough, the celebrity I saw a Broadway star: Miss Laura Bell Bundy walked into the cafe. I've never met her even though the Broadway community is so small, but I did recognize her and we made eyes for a brief second. Celebrity sighting #2 of my time in LA. The first was Denny from Grey's Anatomy walking around in Studio City. Oh and of course Jeff Goldblum, who came to the show with his girlfriend and my dear friend Emilie.

Anyways, two shows went great, had a little power ninja nap between shows after having a quick bite to eat. My weekend is going to be filled with more friends visiting and lush dinners to be had, so I wanted to have a quick one today.

I am so lucky to be doing what I love to do. Sing, dance and act onstage, performing for thousands of audience members in cities around the country and on Broadway. But nothing brings me more joy than seeing people in the audience with huge smiles, dancing, laughing and singing along. I caught a young woman in the front row singing along to Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious today, while the girl behind her was trying to imitate our choreography (for those who have seen the show you know that it's pretty intricate). And then there was this little girl in the front all dressed up like Mary Poppins. I was lucky to get a photo with her at the stage door after the show!

Anyways, my point is that I thank my lucky stars and I hope that everybody in this world gets to follow their dreams and do what they love to do. We only have one life to live, so live the life you want. Enjoy and live in the moment and be open to what's around you. Be fearless! Ha! Have a great night. Going to catch up on some Downton Abbey now. Where is my valet?!

Jollily,
Nicolas
