Hello BroadwayWorld!

So let me see... When was the last time I had the honor of being the blogger of the month? Oh yeah, just about a year ago when I flew off to play Bert in Los Angeles on the tour of Mary Poppins, which just closed in Alaska on Sunday the 2nd of June. Mary Poppins is flying to greener pastures and who knows when we'll see her next! Probably when the wind changes...

So where to start, where to start.... The last year has been a wonderful one to say the least. After being in LA, I had the pleasure of playing the role of Phil Davis in the Denver Center production of White Christmas. The cast was fantastic, I met some wonderful people there and I enjoyed every second of it.

While I was in rehearsals in October for White Christmas, Santa decided to come early as I got a phone call to ask if I would be interested to play Bert on Broadway! So after Denver, I came back to New York and the day before I went into the show, we got our closing notice... It was unexpected and a bit of a shock for everyone, but there's always a silver lining and everything happens for a reason, even though it's hard to see it at first. 6 1/2 years is an amazing run on Broadway these days, especially in these times of economic uncertainties.

So Poppins closed on March 3rd and I was enjoying my time off, taking lots of acting classes, taking guitar lessons, spending time with friends and seeing Broadway shows. I was having a great time but I had my eye on two shows that I really wanted to audition for: Once the Musical and Jersey Boys. Both have some of the best books on Broadway and the music is superb in each.

In 2008, I first auditioned for Jersey Boys. It went well then, but I wasn't ready. Then in 2013, a short 4 1/2 years after my first audition, I was called to audition for the role of Tommy DeVito in the national tour and.....

Here I am in Salt Lake City, the day before my first show in front of an audience, after a travel day that had us go from Albuquerque, connecting in Phoenix to arrive in Salt Lake City, I'm unpacked and blogging, while I should be reviewing my notes and making sure I'm fully prepared for when I go on tomorrow.

I couldn't be more excited and I can't wait to have an audience! But I should really get to bed now. Tomorrow's schedule: Gym, lunch, sound check, dinner and then my Tommy DeVito début!!
