Broadway For All just announced its 2015 Summer Showcase, held at the Sheen Center (18 Bleecker Street) on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at 8:00pm. All tickets are $30 and can be purchased at broadwayforall.org.
Broadway For All's mission is to transform the American stage and screen to reflect the country's diversity. We train young artists from all income levels and all ethnic backgrounds in a world-class conservatory-led by professionals from the Broadway, television, and film industries-in order to shape a new generation of artists, leaders, and advocates who are impassioned to create inclusive work FOR ALL.
The Summer Showcase will feature the Drama Division students in an original play, Clockwise, written by Kenneth Molloy. The Musical Theatre Division students will appear in an original musical revue, Let Me Come In, which was developed throughout the Summer Conservatory program by director Joe Barros. Scenes from Broadway For All's inaugural Dramatic Writing Division will receive readings. The evening will be hosted by Broadway For All alum Chris Richards, currently appearing in Broadway's Finding Neverland.
Broadway For All was born out of a Presidential Public Service Fellowship in 2012 sponsored by Harvard University's Office of the President. Today the program is a NYC-based 501(c)(3) not-for-profit that offers tuition-free, world-class conservatory training to middle and high school students from across the country.
With continued cuts in arts education at our schools and the cost of private theatre training out of reach for many, Broadway For All was created to provide young artists the opportunity to practice and enhance their talents, regardless of their ethnic or economic backgrounds. Our tuition-free program is one of the most rigorous in the field, offering participants an environment to awaken and grow their skills in acting, writing, and music, under the guidance and instruction of a faculty comprised of Broadway professionals. By bringing together students from diverse backgrounds, our program fosters an awareness of cultural differences while also allowing students to realize a shared and common ground in their dreams and aspirations.
The creative team for the Summer Showcase includes: Megan Hopp (Costumes), Chet Miller and Chelsie McPhilimy (Projections), Aaron Mack (Lighting) andKen Chamberlain (Sound). Music direction is by Jacob Yates, and Drew Wutke is music supervisor.
All tickets for the Broadway For All Summer Showcase 2015 are $30 General Admission tickets and are available to purchase now. Please visitwww.broadwayforall.org for ticketing information.
