It's official! BroadwayWorld has just confirmed that HAMILTON is heading uptown NEXT season! Lin-Manuel Miranda's newest musical, which opened to rave reviews last week, will arrive on Broadway this summer at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. The show will start previews on July 13th and will open on August 6th. Tickets will go on sale on March 8th.

Speculation was rampant that the show would be rushed uptown to Broadway in time for this year's Tony eliligibility deadline (April 23rd) after the production received a set of near across the board rave reviews. Ultimately, the team decided not to cut their run short at the Public Theater and to take extra time for refinements pre-transfer.

Of note, this will mark a return to the Richard Rodgers for Lin-Manuel Miranda, whose IN THE HEIGHTS played the same theatre. HAMILTON is produced on Broadway by Jeffrey Seller, Sander Jacobs, Jill Furman and The Public Theater. Tickets for the Broadway engagement will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 8 via Ticketmaster.

"Hamilton has burst on the world in a blaze that has amazed and delighted all of us at The Public. We have never experienced such ticket demand, or such wild enthusiasm from our audiences," said Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis. "Lin-Manuel Miranda's retelling of our nation's founding tells the story of a country that truly belongs to all of us. We are honored to partner with our friend Jeffrey Seller, along with Sander Jacobs and Jill Furman, to bring this miraculous show to the broadest possible audience."

The world premiere production of HAMILTON, inspired by the book "Alexander Hamilton" by Ron Chernow, with book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and directed by Thomas Kail opened February 17, 2015 at the Public Theater. The show is set to run through May 3rd at the Public Theater.

From bastard orphan to Washington's right hand man, rebel to war hero, loving husband caught in the country's first sex scandal to Treasury head who made an untrusting world believe in the American economy, Hamilton is an exploration of a political mastermind. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Eliza Hamilton, and lifelong Hamilton friend and foe,Aaron Burr, all attend this revolutionary tale of America's fiery past told through the sounds of the ever-changing nation we've become. Tony Award nominee Thomas Kail directs this new musical about taking your shot, speaking your mind, and turning the world upside down.
