At the Fountain Theatricals, a new theatre organization at Stanford University officially announced their Inaugural Event earlier this week with a date set for May 17 at 3pm. The organization is aimed at providing students with additional opportunities for arts education and musical theatre performance. To present their mission to the Stanford student body and the general public, the inaugural event will consist of an introduction to the organization by the founding members as well as keynote speaker, Broadway's Josh Gad. Mr. Gad will also participate in a Q&A session following his speech.
At the Fountain Theatricals is the first Stanford student group uniquely dedicated to musical theatre and arts education. The aim is three-fold: (1) to expand theatre education by hosting workshops, master classes, and speaking events given by visiting artists and industry leaders, (2) to create more opportunities for student performance at Stanford, and (3) to serve as a lab theatre for professional artists to try out their work in partnership with Stanford students. The organization was founded by Melanie Arnold, Tobin Asher, Emily Ashton, Sammi Cannold, Nisha Masharani, and Julia Starr.
Mr. Gad is best known on Broadway for originating the role of Elder Cunningham in the 9-time Tony Award winning musical, The Book of Mormon. He also created and stars in NBC's 1600 Penn, and has appeared in numerous films including the upcoming jOBS, in which he co-stars as Steve Wozniak
Tickets are free and priority is given to Stanford students and staff, however a limited number of tickets will be made available to the general public. Visit the website to RSVP to this event. Note that an RSVP simply allows us to approximate how many seats to allocate for students and general public, it DOES NOT guarantee admission. Tickets will be given out on the day of the event on a first-come first-served basis. However, space is limited, so arrive early to guarantee a seat. Students must present their SUID at the door. **NOTE for the General Public (does not apply to students): To avoid extreme crowds, 20-50 members of the general public who RSVP will be notified to come on the day of the event to claim their seat thirty minutes before the show. If you do not arrive by that time, your seat will be given away to students. Members of the general public will receive ticket notifications based on the order in which we receive their RSVP.
