Aventura Arts & Cultural Center Set to Open In June

By:

The new 325-seat Aventura Arts & Cultural Center is one step closer to its June opening as the City of Aventura, in conjunction with the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, celebrated the topping off of the 14,864-square-foot waterfront performing arts facility.

The Center will be managed by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts which also manages and provides programming for its own three stages as well as the Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale, the Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center on the campus of Nova Southeastern University and the Miramar Cultural Center/Arts Park.

The Aventura Arts & Cultural Center features a 45' x 76' proscenium stage, full fly system and loading dock. Upon completion, the Center will host commercial acts, regional presenters and community groups as well as educational programming.

Award-winning entertainer Avi Hoffman will bring his acclaimed shows "Too Jewish?" and "Too Jewish, Too!" in repertory to the Center in July.

"Somewhere between the groundbreaking and an opening comes the topping off ceremony, which signifies the shift from construction to plans for bringing this building to life," said Broward Center CEO and President Kelley Shanley. "This building and all it represents is a credit to the Aventura City commission and city staff."

General Contractor Suffolk Construction broke ground on the project in April. The architectural firm is PGA.
