Sing! Sing! Sing! The Michigan Pops Choir, a program of the Chelsea Center for the Arts, performs popular music from the jazz age forward. It is generally open to those of high school age or older, exceptions made at the director's discretion. Choreography requirements reasonable and appropriate for members of diverse ages. Members welcome and solicited from near and far: from the western suburbs of Detroit to Jackson, from Lansing to Adrian.
Artistic director: Jeff Prenevost

Sing! Sing! Sing! draws members from a large geographic area centered on Chelsea and extending from Jackson to Ypsilanti, Saline to Stockbridge. We sing a "pops" or "show choir" repertoire of...

Western music from the jazz age forward; we do not typically perform madrigals, Renaissance, sacred, or what, in general, would be thought of as "serious" or "classical" choral music. Movement (light choreography) will often be developed for shows. Instrumentation may be added, e.g., a rock band or percussion section.

A pops emphasis should not be taken to mean we approach music with casualness or lack of seriousness; on the contrary, we strive hard for excellence. Mediocrity is dull. Within a framework of frequent but relaxed and flexible rehearsal scheduling, choristers are asked to do it again -- and again -- and again -- and again -- until it's perfect. In excellence, we fulfill our mission: to create joy.
