Manila, Philippines, February 16, 2013 -- In the sound clip below, Monique Wilson, ONE BILLION RISING lead organizer in the Philippines, sings "I Am Rising," an original song, composed and arranged by Andrei lonescu, featuring lyrics by Joi Barrios, which Wilson sang live at the well-attended ONE BILLION RISING rally at Tomas Morato, Quezon City.

More than 5,000 Filipino women and men, young and old, joined other social activists in 200 countries to celebrate Tony winner Eve Ensler's ("The Vagina Monologues," "Emotional Creature") 15-year effort to end violence against women and girls via ONE BILLION RISING, where participants came to "strike, dance, and rise" on Valentine's Day.

ONE BILLION RISING began as a call to action based on the staggering statistics that one in three women across the globe is beaten or raped during her lifetime.

BILLION refers to one billion women and girls that are survivors of abuse; BILLION also refers to the global campaign's aim to enlist at least one billion women and men to take a stand against acts that harm women and girls.
