'The Second Tosca' Description

The play takes place backstage at Opera California. The opera will be Tosca and the diva and soprano will be Gloria, the African-American well-known performer. She arrives with her assistant and immediately is aware of the competition, Lisa, who will sing a matinee. This is a
backstage comedy that involves the Assistant Stage manager, Lisa's managerial brother and a young music student who is smitten with Lisa. He has also written original piece of music for her to perform at a benefit. Lisa's egocentric fiancée and conductor is too involved in his work to consider Lisa's personal interests and that creates a problem. Also, we must see and be aware of Angelina, another diva who died during production of Tosca when she fell to her death flinging
herself over the stage parapet. Opera lovers will enjoy a play totally devoted to opera and non-lovers will surely learn more than they knew before and possibly discover the fascinating life of opera singers in this backstage play.
