Arvada Center Completes Casting for The Lion in Winter 1/25-2/20

The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities has selected noted Denver actor John Arp to play the role of King Henry II in the Arvada Center's original production of The Lion in Winter, which opens January 25 and runs through February 20, 2011, in the Black Box Theater.
Under the artistic direction of Philip Sneed, making his directorial debut at the Arvada Center, this originally created production also features Rachel Fowler as Queen Eleanor, Geoffrey Kent as Richard Lionheart, Josh Robinson as Geoffrey, Jake Walker as John, Kate Berry as Alais, and Benjamin Bonenfant as Philip, King of France.Brian Mallgrave is the scenery designer, Chris Campbell costume designer, Gail Gober lighting designer, and Steve Stevens sound designer. Rod A. Lansberry is the artistic producer, and Lisa Cook is the production stage manager.The Lion in Winter, written in 1964 by James Goldman, takes place during the Christmas holiday of 1183 and involves King Henry II of England, his wife Eleanor of Aquitaine, their sons Richard, Geoffrey, and John; and King Philip of France as they become entangled in family gamesmanship and sibling rivalry surrounding the naming of the next king of England.
