Ars Nova Announces Their February Programming

Ars-Nova-Announces-February-Programming-20010101

Ars Nova (Jason Eagan, Artistic Director; Jeremy Blocker, Managing Director) announces a jam-packed February lineup featuring exciting new comedy, music and theater programming.

Coming up in February:
(All shows are at 8pm)

Delilah Dix – America’s Showgirl! (Friday 2/24 and Friday 3/2; $15)
Delilah Dix is in jail and needs to plead her case (through songs, gowns, and euphemisms for her lady parts). Join Delilah and her parole officer in a trip down memory lane from her first audition to her current status as a showbiz superstar in this brand new hour of stories and original songs. Co-created by Cody Owen Stine and directed by Peter Michael Marino.

You Like Me: An Evening of Classic Acceptance Speeches (Saturday, 2/25; $15)
On the eve of the Oscars, join a host of noted funny people as they reinterpret classic speeches from award-show history, from Katharine Hepburn to Mariah Carey. No celebrities are safe in this merciless send-up of self-congratulation. Created by Rachel Shukert and Michael Schulman, with music by Brandon James Gwinn and directed by Peter James Cook, the evening will feature: David Rakoff (This American Life contributor), Michael Musto (Village Voice gossip columnist), Julie Klausner (I Don't Care About Your Band), Molly Pope (Our Hit Parade), Michael Cyril Creighton (Jack in the Box), Roslyn Hart (Never Sleep Alone), Dan Fishback (thirtynothing), Emily McNamara (Mostly Sondheim), Bradford Louryk (Christina Jorgensen Reveals), Julie Lake and The Varsity Interpretive Dance Squad. Hosted by Ryan Raftery as Billy Crystal.

Well-Strung (Tuesday, 2/28; $15)
Jonas Brothers step aside, there’s a new brand of boy band on the circuit. All male string quartet Well-Strung features classical musicians putting their own spin on the music of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Mozart and more.

Shoshana Bean: An Evening of Acoustic Soul (Wednesday, 2/29; $20)
Hot on the heels of her LA run, Shoshana Bean brings her unique brand of hand-clapping, foot-stomping, soul-shaking music to Ars Nova for a rare acoustic evening that’s sure to thrill longtime fans and hook first-time listeners.

Isaac Oliver: Intimacy Idiot (Thursday, 3/1; $15)
Isaac Oliver, gay playwright and pale neurotic, hits the stage solo in a hilarious and heartfelt evening of stories, love poems, and rants from his blog, He Who Laughs, or The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Intimacy.
