Arclight Theatre Presents DOWN THE ROAD, Previews June 1

The New York premiere of Dale Whisman's Southern Gothic drama, Down the Road, begins previews June 1, 2011 before an official opening on June 4th at the ArcLight Theatre (152 West 71st St.). Juan Reinoso directs.

A young Korean War veteran returns home to California to find his parents have died in a house fire and his wife has left him for another man. Having no other family he leaves for Middle America in search of a distant cousin. When he arrives, he finds a woman with five daughters living in a small town haunted by secrets.

Down the Road stars Renée-Michele Brunet, Renée Petrofes, Vincent Petrosini, Kyla Schoer, Kaylee Souther, Autumn Stein and Kristina Thompson.

Performances of Down the Road are June 1 through 26, Tuesday through Friday at 8:00 pm, Saturday at 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm and Sunday at 3:00 pm. Tickets are $25 general admission ($20 for students and seniors) at www.theatermania.com or (212) 352-3101.

Dale Whisman (Playwright) grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he still resides with his wife, Sherry. They have two grown children, and six grandchildren. He is a member of the Tulsa Nightwriters, The Oklahoma Writers Federation, Inc., The Oklahoma Mystery Writers, Mystery Writers of America, and a former board member of The Oklahoma Film Society. His plays include Statuesque and Down the Road. Dale is also the author of several novels, including Friends, And Other Perishables, Friends on Fire and A Witch Among Friends. Juan Reinoso (Director) attended Fordham University at Lincoln Center in New York City on a performance scholarship. Studying under Obie-nominated director Larry Sacharow (Three Tall Women) and Tony-nominated director Michael Mayer (Triumph of Love; You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown; A View From the Bridge; Thoroughly Modern Millie). Believing that artistic passion and human integrity and generosity should be combined in all works he began producing small stage works for other writers, eventually moving into the feature film and commercial world.
