April Reading At Nashville Shakespeare Is THE TAMING OF THE SHREW 4/11
The Taming of the Shrew will be the April reading for The Nashville Shakespeare Festival's ongoing program, Shakespeare Allowed!.
The program Shakespeare Allowed! began last October, and will continue over the next few years as participants come together once a month to read aloud one of Shakespeare's works. The monthly reading schedule follows the order in which Shakespeare wrote the plays.
On Sat., April 11, The Taming of the Shrew is scheduled to be read from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the downtown main library. The comedic play follows the zany courtship of Petruchio and the headstrong Katherina, and includes many other colorful characters of Padua.
The Nashville Shakespeare Festival invites everyone to bring their own copies of the play and participate, whether as one of the out-loud readers or to read along. Discussion to follow on the Nashville Shakespeare Festival Facebook page. Shakespeare Allowed! is a free event, open to the public.
Other scheduled programs include:
· The Two Gentleman of Verona, May 2
· Love's Labor's Lost, June 6
· Richard II, July 11

The mission of the Nashville Shakespeare Festival is to educate and entertain the Mid-South community through professional Shakespearean experiences. The Festival accomplishes this primarily through its public productions of Shakespeare in the Park in the summer and Winter Shakespeare at The Troutt Theater and its educational workshops for young people and businesses.
