The Concerts at Tudor City Greens is sponsoring a songwriting contest of songs celebrating New York's parks and green spaces, and the different roles they play in the lives of New Yorkers. THe jury will incude: Neil Sedaka, Amanda McBroom, Ann Hamton Callaway, Michael John LaChiusa, David Friedman, and Matt Parillo.
The guidlines for the contest are as follows:
1. Submissions must be fully realized songs (music and lyrics), up to 5 minutes in length.
2. Songs may be in any musical style, or point of view. The topic, to be broadly interpreted, is parks and green spaces in New York City.
3. Submissions must include a recorded either recorded on demo (CD, Mp3, audio cassette), or on paper with lead sheet, including chords, and must be received by December 31, 2011.
4. Submitted songs remain the property of the songwriter(s); however THE CONCERTS AT TUDOR CITY GREENS (TCATCG) reserves the right to perform/record/post on website/publicize and promote submitted songs in connection with the Contest, and is indemnified from any claims arising from audience and/or jury voting, performance and or publication of these songs in connection with the Contest.
5. Participation in this Contest is voluntary, and there is no financial remuneration of any kind, implied or promised.
6. Songs with profanity will not be considered.
Professional or amateur songwriters of any nationality, race, or orientation are eligible. Songs may be written by individual songwriters, composer/lyricists, or groups of writers. Songwriters need not reside in New York City. Songs by current TCATCG Resident Musical Directors, current performers, its producer or staff members are not eligible, while past performers and past musical directors in TCATCG concerts are eligible.
