Andrew Lloyd Webber Wants to Compose for Prince William's Wedding

By:

Last week Kate Middleton and Prince William announced their engagement and according to an article from the The Telegraph, Andrew Lloyd Webber is hoping to be called upon to compose a song for their wedding day.

"I would be very honoured if they asked," the composer told Mandrake at a reception hosted by Cartier in Mayfair. "Of course, it would be about solid love."

Sir Tim Rice, Lord Lloyd-Webber's partner for hit West End musicals like EVITA and JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR doesn't think he'll be asked to write any lyrics for the big event. "I expect they will want to keep it traditional," Sir Tim told The Telegraph at a party held by a member of the Royal family. "I wouldn't like to give them any advice one way or another."

William Mathias, who composed "Let the people praise Thee, O God" for the wedding of the Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer in 1981, however, he died in 1992.

After the couple's engagement announcement last week, Sir Tom Jones said he would like to sing for them.

"I've always been a royalist and always will be," he said at a Prince's Trust event. "If they invite me along to the wedding, I'd happily sing a few songs."
