This bouquet of love songs by one of America's most beloved collaborations, the brothers Gershwin, includes rediscovered gems and perennial favorites such as "Boy Wanted," "Embraceable You," "Someone To Watch Over Me" and "The Man I Love."
A departure from Andrea's usual songbook series, this show focuses on the delight of romance found within the music of George Gershwin, the lyrics of his brother, Ira, the passionate rhythm of Edna St. Vincent Millay, Dorothy Parker, Ogden Nash, and other poets, and the warmth of a lover's eyes when enchanted by "requited" love. Marcovicci will be joined by her longtime Musical Director Shelly Markham on piano and Jered Egan on Bass.
Her east coast tour dates of "A Gershwin Valentine" also include shows at the Rrazz Room at the Raven in New Hope, PA on October 8 and the RRazz Room at the Prince in Philadelphia, PA on November 20.
After seeing "A Gershwin Valentine" when it debuted at The Gardenia in Hollywood, acclaimed composer Stephen Schwartz noted, "Anyone interested in performing cabaret needs to see Andrea Marcovicci do it. No one understands, or delivers, that special and specific art form better than she. Seeing one of her shows is always both a pleasure and an education."
