An Evening of Hammerstein at Tappan Hill Mansion Benefits Katonah Museum

Oscar Hammerstein, II, one of the greatest American lyricists and librettists, wrote the lyrics and books to many of the best loved (not to mention award winning) Broadway musicals including The Sound of Music, Carousel, Oklahoma!, South Pacific, The King and I, and Show Boat. His music and story will be the focus of Hammerstein's Broadway, a celebration of the music and the man hosted by his grandson Oscar "Andy" Hammerstein on Sunday, November 20 at Tappan Hill Mansion in Tarrytown from 5-8pm. The event, presented by the Katonah Museum of Art in conjunction with their exhibition New York, New York! The 20th Century, will include supper catered by Abigail Kirsch followed by live performances of the maestro's music. Tickets are $175 for members and $200 for non-members and may be purchased by calling (914) 232-9555, x0 or online at www.katonahmuseum.org.

The evening will be hosted by Andy Hammerstein, who will share stories and read excerpts from his latest book, The Hammerstein's: A Musical Theater Family. Under the musical direction of Sue Anderson (Pirates of Penzance, Me and My Girl, and Cats) the evening will also include the songs of Oscar Hammerstein, II performed by a five of today's leading Broadway stars: Christine Andreas (My Fair Lady, Oklahoma! On Your Toes, La Cage Aux Folles); Tony Award nominee Alan Campbell (Sunset Boulevard, Contact) Cris Groenendaal (The Phantom of the Opera, Sweeney Todd, Sunday in the Park with George, Passion, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum); Lauren Kennedy (Spamalot, Sunset Boulevard, Side Show, Les Miserables, Cinderella, South Pacific); and Craig Schulman (The Phantom of the Opera; Les Miserables; Jekyll & Hyde, Evita, Fiddler On The Roof, The Secret Garden, Children Of Eden.)
