WFUV (90.7 FM/wfuv.org) has announced the lineup for the 12th annual Holiday Cheer for FUV concert, featuring Amos Lee & Friends, which will take place at the Beacon Theatre on Wednesday, November 30 at 8 p.m.
In addition to Amos Lee, the performers will include Lucinda Williams, Corinne Bailey Rae, and The Record Company.
Tickets for the concert, which benefits the New York public radio station known for music discovery, go on sale on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 12 noon through Ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster Charge By Phone (1-866-858-0008), all Ticketmaster Outlets and www.beacontheatre.com/
This is the fifth Holiday Cheer concert at the Beacon and the fourth to present an evening of collaboration. The last two, Conor Oberst & Friends in 2014 and Brandi Carlile & Friends in 2015, sold out.
"The collaboration concept has paid off with some amazingly creative evenings of music," said WFUV Program Director Rita Houston. "All these artists have enormous respect for each other, as well as a history with WFUV. This will be Amos' third Holiday Cheer appearance, and Lucinda headlined in 2012. We've been fans of Corinne since her first album in 2006, and The Record Company is one of the most exciting bands we've heard this year."
Amos Lee has received critical acclaim for his magnetic concert performances and for all six of his albums, beginning with his eponymous debut in 2005. Using what The New York Times calls his "honeyed singing voice," Amos digs deep into his Philadelphia soul roots on his new album, Spirit, which entered the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart at No. 3. His September, 2016 concert at Radio City Music Hall was a sellout.
Alt-country icon Lucinda Williams has received 14 Grammy nominations over her 37-year recording career for her trenchant music. Her 13th album, The Ghosts of Highway 20, earned a 2016 Americana Music nomination for Album of the Year.
Soulful singer- songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae garnered instant recognition in both her native U.K. and the U.S. (including a Grammy nomination as "Best New Artist") with her self-titled 2006 debut. Her two subsequent albums, 2012's The Sea and this year's The Heart Speaks in Whispers, have fulfilled that promise.
The Record Company, a blazing blues-rock trio from Los Angeles, burst on the scene earlier this year with Give It Back to You and have been selling out concerts, including ones in late October in Brooklyn and New York City.
