Alliance for the Arts Celebrates The Performing Arts and Three Industry Leaders 9/14 In NYC

The Alliance for the Arts will celebrate the performing arts in New York City by presenting the 2009 Alliance for the Arts Prize to Frederic S. Papert, founding president of the 42nd Street Development Corporation and the founder of Theatre Row; the Jerome Robbins Foundation; and the late Gerald Schoenfeld, longtime head of the Shubert Organization.

The event will support all of the Alliance's work to serve the cultural community and public through research, advocacy, information services and marketing.

The event will include cocktails, dinner, a prize presentation and a special appearance by Josefina Scaglione and Matt Cavenaugh, stars of the hit Broadway revival of West Side Story.

Attendees will include City Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn, Public Advocate Betsy Gotbaum, State Senator Liz Krueger, City Councilmembers Gale A. Brewer, Daniel G. Garodnick and Domenic Recchia, State Assembly Member Jonathan L. Bing, Commissioner of Parks and Recreation Adrian Benepe, Commissioner of Cultural Affairs Kate D. Levin, Jody Arnhold, Margaret C. Ayers, Neil Barsky, Paul Beirne, Roger S. Berlind, Randall Bourscheidt, Michele Oka Doner, Douglas Durst, George Fertitta, Barbara G. Fleischman, Agnes Gund, Ashton Hawkins, Marian Heiskell, Mrs. Stephen M. Kellen, Anthony Kiser, Emily Fisher Landau, Kenneth Lerer, Ellen Liman, William Ivey Long, Albert Maysles, Virginia A. Millhiser, Bob Semple, Jane and James Stern, Jennifer Tipton, Laurie Tisch, Lizzie and Jonathan Tisch, Joe Versace and William Wright III (Guest List in Formation).

The event will be held at the Central Park Boathouse (East 72nd Street and Park Drive North in Central Park), on Monday, September 14, 2009, 6:30-10:00 pm.
