Acclaimed stage and film star Alfred Molina may be lining up a new job.

According to Deadline, Molina, the current star of TNT's MONDAY MORNINGS, has entered late negotiations to star opposite Krysten Ritter (DON'T TRUST THE B---- IN APARTMENT 23) in NBC's single-camera comedy pilot ASSISTANCE. The project comes from Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's Gary Sanchez Prods and Universal TV.

Written by Leslye Headland and based on her play, ASSISTANCE is a fast-moving comedy centered on Nora (Ritter), an idealistic "working girl" assistant who is pulled between her "work husband (Zach Cregger) and her real-life fiance (Peter Cambor) while trying to manage a demanding (translation: crazy) boss.

Molina would take on the role of Nora's boss, 'Daniel,' a successful movie producer with a large (and slightly overbearing) presence.

Molina's Broadway credits include "Red" and two other Tony Award-nominated performances in "Art" (also at the Doolittle Theatre) and "Fiddler on the Roof" (Tevye). In London he appeared in the premiere of "Red" at the Donmar, "The Night of the Iguana" and "Speed-the-Plow" (both at The National Theatre), "Romeo and Juliet," "Troilus and Cressida," "King Lear" and "The Taming of the Shrew" (Royal Shakespeare Company). His numerous film credits include "Letter to Brezhnev," "Chocolat," "Frida," "Boogie Nights," "Enchanted April," "As You Like It" for Kenneth Branagh, "The Da Vinci Code" and "Spider-Man 2." He currently leads TNT's "Monday Mornings," which is not expected to be picked up for a second season.
