Just released is a statement from Charlotte St. Martin, Executive Director of The Broadway League & Heather Hitchens, Executive Director of the American Theatre Wing:

Alan Wasser and Allan Williams of Alan Wasser Associates, General Managers for the Tony Awards have announced that they will not renew their contract for the 2012-2013 season. The Tony Awards are grateful for the support that Alan Wasser Associates have provided to the Tony Awards for the past 4 years and thank them for helping to further establish the Tony Awards brand. During their tenure they have supervised the creation of the Times Square Simulcast, the Tony Awards Film Series, and a refreshed Tony Honors Cocktail Reception.

They also spearheaded public relations initiatives such as the Bloomingdale’s Costume Exhibit and an expanded nominations announcement event and red carpet. In addition, their efforts to promote the Tony brand to a wider audience resulted in increased foreign licensing of the telecast as well as the first-ever availability of the Tony Awards for digital download through services like iTunes and Amazon.com and the first full-color Tony Awards in-theatre program. The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing are currently exploring a new management model as a long term strategy for the further enhancement and development of the Tony Awards.”
