'Affluenza!' Running At Lion Theatre Starting 3/13

Heiress Productions presents the New York premiere of James Sherman's farce Affluenza! March 13 through April 6, 2008 at the Lion Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street, between 9th & 10th Ave.).

Affluenza! is a contemporary comedy of manners that borrows generously from Restoration comedy.  Multi-millionaire William Moore lives the high life in his Chicago penthouse with his loyal assistant Bernard.  When Moore brings home a new girlfriend, his son and ex-wife are threatened by the potential new heir to his fortune.  Who gets what and who ends up with whom is revealed in this lively farce.  When Affluenza! premiered in Chicago, The Chicago Reader exclaimed, "James Sherman has created a Moliere play for our times," while the Chicago Sun-Times raved, "Monsieur Moliere, Sherman has neatly captured your taste for pranks and reversals and all forms of scheming."

Heiress Productions was founded to raise cancer awareness and funds through entertaining and inspirational professional theater. Proceeds from Affluenza! will benefit Miracle House, a non-profit organization that provides assistance to caregivers and patients coming to New York City for treatment.   Through the years, its mission has grown to include anyone seeking critical medical treatment including cancer, clinical trials, reconstructive surgery and more.

Performances of Affluenza! run March 13 through April 6, 2008, Wednesday through Saturday at 8:00 pm and Sunday at 3:00 pm, at the Lion Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd St., bet. 9th & 10th Ave.; Subway: A/C/E to 42nd St.).  Tickets are $20 at www.ticketcentral.com or (212) 279-4200. Proceeds from the production will be donated to Miracle House.  Press dates are March 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 at 8 pm, and 16 at 3:00 pm.  The running time is 1 hour and 45 minutes with one intermission.
