Acrassicauda Announces First Tour, Kicks Off May 12

By:

Iraqi metal band, Acrassicauda, announce their first tour in support of their debut EP, Only the Dead See the End of the War. The EP, originally released on March 9, 2010, is currently available on iTunes.

Hailing from Baghdad, Acrassicauda is Faisal Talal (lead vocals, guitar), Tony Yaqoo (lead guitar), Firas Allateef (bass) and Marwan Hussein (drums). Only the Dead See the End of the War, was co-produced by Testament's Alex Skolnick and Nik Chinboukas. Every note and every riff of these songs is born from pain, agony, and strife and that stem from the experiences they've endured. However, just as they've lived their lives in the last seven years, Acrassicauda transcend mere negativity to make a beautiful, angrily hopeful record that's as real as it comes.

Formed in 2001, Acrassicauda was the only heavy metal band in Baghdad. After the American invasion and occupation of Iraq, the members lost family and friends. Their practice space was decimated and they eventually forced to live like refugees running from Baghdad to Syria to Turkey. Several months, people, and filled-out forms later, the band finally arrived in New York. They are the subjects of the documentary Heavy Metal in Baghdad.
