Aaron Sorkin to Script Upcoming Steve Jobs Biopic for Sony?

According to Collider.com, writer Aaron Sorkin is being courted by Sony to write the script for an upcoming biopic of computer pioneer Steve Jobs, based on the newly released authorized biography by Walter Isascson. Recently, it was reported that Sony had acquired the rights to Isaacson's biography and the studio appears to have made it a high priority project.

Sorkin recently won an Academy Award for scripting last year's film "The Social Network", which chronicled the creation of Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook. Other politically themed films he has written include "Charlie Wilson's War", "The American President" and "A Few Good Men." He has also penned many of the critically acclaimed episodes of TV's "The West Wing".

According to Collider, Sorkin and Jobs were actually acquaintances. After Job's death, Sorkin wrote a piece on the Apple founder revealing that Jobs had once asked him to write a movie for Pixar. Sorkin had declined the offer saying he would have difficulty making inanimate objects speak. Sorkin is currently writing a new series for HBO about a cable news program. No official announcement has yet been made by Sony regarding the Jobs film.

Sorkin is a screenwriter, producer and playwright, whose works include A Few Good Men, The American President, The West Wing, Sports Night, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and most recently The Social Network. His theatre writing credits include A FEW GOOD MEN and THE FARNSWORTH INVENTION
