Dear Reader, I wish you all that is wonderful in the New Year. In South Florida, we have been given a great opportunity with two musical highlights, both opening on January 1st, New Year's day.
Stephen Sondheim's masterpiece Sweeney Todd, plays the Carnival Center for one week. It features the sensational Judy Kaye as the pie baking Mrs. Lovett. The Tony winning hit The Drowsy Chaperone will be at the Broward Center for approximately two weeks, also opening on New Year's Day.
The Drowsy Chaperone is more of an 'old fashioned' musical. It features a theater queen known as 'man in chair' who's glorious memories of his favorite old time musical come to life on stage. The tour of The Drowsy Chaperone features Georgia Engel, from television's 'Mary Tyler Moore Show,' and 'Everybody Loves Raymond.'
Tickets for both shows can be purchased at their respective box office or via www.ticketmaster.com . For further information on both shows, please see prior columns about them in this Florida regional portal.
Have a glorious New Year and perhaps the best way to begin is with one of these hit Broadway musicals.
