A Noise Within Extends NOISES OFF 2/5/2010-2/14
Sold-out performances and rave reviews of A Noise Within's 2009-10 season production of the hilarious British farce NOISES OFF by Michael Frayn have prompted an extension of the play's run, with eight additional performances from Friday, February 5 to Sunday, February 14, 2010 announced by company Co-Founders/Co-Artistic Directors Geoff Elliott and Julia Rodriguez-Elliott, who also co-direct the production. Critics have enthused, "Director Geoff Elliott and a superb cast hit the banana peel running and never let up" (Los Angeles Times); "Michael Frayn's delightfully complicated British farce could hardly have a better rendition than this... You have to see the play to appreciate its artful construction and to applaud the fine ensemble work" (Backstage); "The entire production is a riot, some of the most fun you can expect at a theatrical production" (Stage Happenings); and "skillfully rendered, with lovely performances" (LA Weekly). Four performances remain in the current run: Friday, December 18, 8 pm, Saturday, December 19, 2 pm and 8 pm, and Sunday, December 20, 2 pm, the latter a special fund-raising Victorian Tea.
In Frayn's farce, chaos reigns both onstage and off as an under-rehearsed and over-worked troupe of veteran thespians ready themselves for the world premiere of a new play. With a penchant for drama more personal than professional, the bumbling actors stumble through rehearsals and performances, and in the process bring the house down, quite literally. The cast features Shaun Anthony (Tim Allgood), Apollo Dukakis (Selsdon Mowbray), Geoff Elliott (Lloyd Dallas), Jill Hill (Brenda Blair), Mikael Salazar (Garry Lejeune), Lenne Klingaman (Poppy Norton-Taylor), Emily Kosloski (Brooke Ashton), Stephen Rockwell (Frederick Fellowes) and Deborah Strang (Dotty Otley).A Noise Within (ANW) was founded in 1992 and quickly established itself as one of the nation's leading theatre companies. It continues to maintain its celebrated status as the only year-round classical repertory company in Southern California, attracting fiercely loyal audiences and high praise from the media for its productions of great works of world drama and also as a leading regional force in arts education. Since its inception, the company has presented more than 120 plays from the classics of world literature, each season producing a minimum of six plays from authors ranging from Shakespeare and Molière, to Ibsen, O'Neill and Shaw, to Miller and Williams.Videos
