A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC Revival Will Play A Jujamcyn Theatre

The Broadway revival of "A Little Night Music" is expected to go into a Jujamcyn theater this fall, according to a NY Times story. The paper reports that an announcement will soon be released with details of the production.

Jujamcyn's Broadway houses include the St. James Theatre, Al Hirschfeld Theatre, August Wilson Theatre, Eugene O'Neill Theatre and the Walter Kerr Theatre. It was announced today that FELA! will play the Eugene O'Neill Theatre, making the Walter Kerr Theatre the likely home for A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC.

In April, it was announced that a revival of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC is headed for Broadway. The production will be directed by Tony Award-winner Trevor Nunn, and will utilize the creative team behind the recent London production, which opened at the Menier Chocolate Factory before transferring to the Garrick Theatre on December 3, 2008. The new Broadway revival "rehearses in October 2009. Opens in December. Dates tentative," according to a recent Equity casting announcement.

The production will be produced by David Babani for Chocolate Factory Productions; Andrew Fell; and the Frankel, Viertel, Baruch, Routh Group. In addition to Director Nunn, A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC will include Musical Supervision by Carolyn Humphris, Musical Direction by Tom Murray, Choreography by Lynne Page, General Management by Frankel/Green Theatrical Management and Casting by Tara Rubin Casting.

This will be the first Broadway Revival of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC. The show made its premiere on Broadway at the Shubert Theatre on Feb. 25, 1973. The cast featured Len Cariou as Fredrik, Hermione Gingold as Madame Armfeldt, and Glynis Johns as Desiree. The score to the popular Sondheim musical includes the often-recorded "Send in the Clowns" and "Every Day a Little Death."

Equity Principal Auditions will be held May 11, 14 and 15 at the Actors' Equity Association Audition Center. An Equity Chorus Call will be announced shortly. For more information on auditions, visit here.

The casting notice indicates that all roles are currently available for the production. The casting breakdown is as follows:

Casting Director's note: "PLEASE NOTE THE AGES OF THE CHARACTERS IN THIS PRODUCTION."

Fredrik Egerman: 40 - 45. Handsome. Bourgeois. Witty. A lawyer trying to recapture his youth by his marriage to a much younger woman. Baritone.

Desiree Armfeldt: 35 - 40. An actress. Sophisticated, independent, intelligent, with a great sense of humor and warmth. Mezzo.

Carl-Magnus Malcolm: Late 20s. Tall (at least 6'), handsome, self-centered military man. Vain, arrogant. Baritone.

Charlotte Malcolm: Late 20s. Long-suffering wife of Carl-Magnus. Deeply in love with him, despite his infidelities. Self-deprecating, but with a keen sense of humor. Mezzo.

Madame Armfeldt: 60s - 70s. Elderly. Confined to a wheelchair. A grande dame who, in her day, enjoyed many love affairs and romances. A brutally honest observer and commentator on the follies of others.

Anne Egerman: Late teens - early 20s. Beautiful and immature young wife of Fredrik. Unwilling to consummate her marriage. A bit vain and self-absorbed. Soprano.

Henrik Egerman: Late teens - early 20s. Very serious seminarian. Gloomy. In love with Anne. Tenor.

Petra: 20s. The Egermans' earthy, impetuous, sexually adventurous maid.

Frid: 20s. Madame Armfeldt's butler. Has a liaison with Petra. Masculine and sexy.

Fredrika: 12 - 15. Desiree's daughter. Young and innocent, but mature beyond her years. Spends most of her time listening to her Grandmother's advice. Soprano.
