A Class Act NY Announces Fox TV Casting, Broadway Talk Backs And More In Its July 2009 Newsletter

The following is news from A Class Act NY.

One Week Broadway Camps:

Camp ACA is a one-week Broadway summer camp that has kids clamoring to come back each summer. Camp is great fun for children all skill levels!

Workshops with Broadway Actors:
Campers take workshops with Broadway actors throughout the week. Workshops include:

-Musical Theatre Audition Technique
-Improvisation
-Broadway Dance
-Vocal Training
-Acting for the Camera
-Intro to Shakespeare
-Intro to Stage Combat
-Intro to Stage Make-up

Broadway Matinee & Talk Back:
Campers also see a Broadway Matinee, have a "Talk Back" with actors after the show!

The Final Showcase - Off-Broadway Debut:
Campers rehearse for a final showcase in which they make their Off-Broadway debut at an exciting theatre in the heart of the Great White Way!

Long Island Camp ACA - Enrolling now!
When: Monday, Aug. 24 - Friday, Aug. 28
Ages: 7 - 16 (two groups split up according to age)
Where: Sid Jacobson JCC-300 Forest Dr, East Hills, NY
Cost: $695 for members of the Sid Jacobson JCC in East Hills $770 for non-members.

New material for returning students

Work on scenes from today's hottest TV shows, such as Drake & Josh, Hannah Montana, That's So Raven, Zoey 101, iCarly & more. Then strut your stuff for one of New York's most prestigious Talent Agents.

The workshop will focus on:

-On-camera audition technique
-Age appropriate t.v. material
-On-camera lingo
-Mock audition for a Talent Agent

6 Week Musical Theatre Scene Study Class

Work on popular scenes and songs with a Broadway actor & our Musical Director. Shows
covered may include Annie, Wicked, The Little Mermaid, Billy Elliot, Mary Poppins, etc)

Unlike other types of acting, the stakes are substantially higher in musicals. Therefore, young actors need to learn how to make bold choices and create strong characters to successfully transition from scene to song.

Learn proper musical theatre technique from the pro's! Class culminates in a recital for family & friends & a few industry friends.

All levels are welcome! Space is limited.

When: Saturdays, 10 am - 11:30 am
Ages: 8 - 14
6 Weeks: Oct 3, Oct 17, Oct 24, 11/7, 11/14, 11/21
Where: Ripley-Grier Studios - 520 8th Ave - 16th Fl.

*Class will not be held on Halloween, Oct. 31 as previously stated

4 Week Voice Over Class

Kids will work on voice over material from popular t.v. shows.

Class will culminate in a mock audition for a few casting directors and talent agents. The final class will take place in a professional recording studio complete with your own sound engineer!

When: Sundays, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
             The last day of class, Oct. 25th will end at 2:00
Ages: 7 - 16
Four Weeks: Oct. 4, Oct. 11, Oct. 18, Oct. 25
Cost: 315.00

Television Voice Over Animation Workshop

Jessica Rofe, Artistic Director will work with kids on voice over scenes from popular Nickelodeon and Noggin television shows. Learn how to create the voices of the characters you see on animated T.V. shows. Then strut your stuff in front of a top NYC talent agent.

[Mister] African American - 12-14 years old. Raised by an absentee, single mother, Mister, a street-savvy self-starter and a boy who is too prideful to let the pain of being poor and alone in the world show. Mister has found his calling in acting. He's a performer, and the hope of making it to Hollywood. After his mother is arrested, Mister, with no money or food, reluctantly finds himself caring for an innocent 9 year old boy named Pete. Mister struggles to survive to make it to the date of his big audition

[Pete] Asian 7- 9 years old. Pete is the innocent victim of an addict mother. Pete is trying to understand the world around him. Seeking the love and protection any kid deserves, Pete has managed to maintain his trust for his baby sitter, Mister. When Mister discovers that Pete has run away from hardships greater than his own, the boys spend the tough summer together, barely surviving before they will be able to escape to Hollywood
