ATC Announces 2013-14 Season

By:

American Theater Company proudly announces Season 29, which kicks off with the tour of its critically-acclaimed production of columbinus to ArtsEmerson: The World On Stage; followed by the holiday classic It's a Wonderful Life: The Radio Playand a special subscriber-only production of The Wizard of OZ: A Radio Play, both directed by ATC Artistic Director PJ Paparelli. The season continues with the Chicago Premiere of Stephen Karam's 2012 Pulitzer Prize Finalist Sons of the Prophet directed by Artistic Director PJ Paparelli. Closing out the 29th Season, Paparelli will direct the previously announced, restored and revised version of the classic American rock musical Hair. Following the success of The Original Grease, Paparelli now teams up with Hair co-creator James Rado to restore original material from the 1968 off-Broadway production that hasn't been seen in 45 years.

ATC further announces Kelly O'Sullivan and Tyler Ravelson will join the Company as its newest Ensemble Members. O'Sullivan and Ravelson both recently appeared in the critically-acclaimed production of columbinus, directed by PJ Paparelli, and will be performing in the ArtsEmerson tour production in September 2013.

"Nothing could make all of us at ATC more proud than the opportunity to share our work in Chicago with the rest of the nation. AfterDisgraced receiving this year's Pulitzer Prize for Drama and columbinus touring to Boston, ATC has become a national incubator for new plays." Paparelli said. "Sons of the Prophet marks the first time ATC has produced a chronological body of work from one playwright and I'm thrilled it is from my dear friend and colleague Stephen Karam. Chicago audiences will see this gifted and empathetic writer explore identity and sexuality over the course of almost ten years of writing. I am equally thrilled to announce the addition of Kelly O'Sullivan and Tyler Ravelson to ATC's Ensemble. They are both talented artists and generous individuals."
