ASU Gammage Offers Exclusive One-Hour Performances For Students

To encourage students to experience the world of art and culture, ASU Gammage offers exclusive one-hour performances for students throughout the school year. Performances cost $3 per student, teacher and chaperone. An accompanying teacher's guide filled, with interactive lesson plans, is created by ASU Gammage and provided to teachers free-of-charge. Contra-Tiempo is a dynamic Urban Latin Dance Theater Company from Los Angeles. The company fuses Salsa, Afro-Cuban, West African, hip-hop and abstract dance-theater styles creating an electrifying, inspiring and educational performance. Don't miss this opportunity for students to explore the world of Latino cultures through dance.

JazzReach

Thursday, October 15, 2009 - 10:30 a.m. suggested for grades 3-7

Discover the rich cultural legacy of Jazz in America with critically acclaimed New York-based JazzReach. JazzReach will present "Get Hip!" an entertaining, interactive multi-media introduction to jazz that illuminates some of the music's cultural origins, the concept of improvisation and the function and responsibility of each individual component of the jazz ensemble. In addition to fostering a greater appreciation for jazz, "Get Hip!" also aims to use the ensemble as a vehicle to promote the value of community interaction, cooperation, teamwork and self-expression.

New! Bus Scholarships
ASU Gammage is excited to announce its new bus scholarship program to help fund school field trips to ASU Gammage's Performances for Students. Scholarships will be awarded to Title 1 schools and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The bus scholarships are made possible through the generosity of Scottsdale Insurance/Nationwide Foundation.
