ACT & YBCA Present New Piece 'The Tosca Project' Oct.26-28
American Conservatory Theater (ACT) kicks off its "First Look" new works series for the 2007-08 season with The Tosca Project, created by ACT Artistic Director Carey Perloff and choreographer Val Caniparoli. The piece, scheduled for a workshop presentation at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Forum October 26-28, will feature the talents of internationally renowned dancers and actors, many of them associated with San Francisco Ballet and ACT.
"The Tosca Project is a groundbreaking blend of theater, movement, and music inspired by the rich history of Tosca Cafe, the famed nightspot located in San Francisco's North Beach district that has been a favorite of opera singers, Beat poets, Russian emigres, and other eclectic characters since the 1920s," explain press notes.
The ensemble includes Sabina Alleman, Peter Anderson Kara Davis, Muriel Maffre, Pascal Molat, Marc Morozumi, Jekyns Pelaez, Stephanie Saunders, James Simonse, Ching Valdes-Aran and Gregory Wallace.
The creative team features Douglas W. Schmidt (sets), Robert de la Rose (costumes), James F. Ingalls (lights), Darron L West (sound).
Performances are Friday October 26 at 8PM; Saturday October 27 at 8PM; and Sunday October 28 at 2PM & 7PM.
Tickets are $24 regular, $15 seniors & students, $20 A.C.T. subscribers and YBCA members. Tickets are available at the YBCA website (www.ybca.org), or by contacting the YBCA Box Office at 415-978-ARTS (2787).
