ACT 1 Seeks Director Submissions for 21st Anniversary Season

 

Artists Cooperative Theatre 1 (ACT 1) is now accepting director submissions for prospective shows to be included in its 21^st anniversary season, according to Melissa Bedinger Hade, president of the Nashville theatre company's board of directors.

"ACT 1 is doing things a little differently this year and asking all interested directors to submit a play he or she is particularly intertested in directing," Hade explained. "Whether you are a first-time director or an experienced one, the ACT 1 Board invites you to submit a script along with a proposal."

Hade said the proposal "should be brief and to the point," detailing:

1. The name and author of the play (the board may request a copy of lesser known works for reading)

2. Why do you want to direct this play?

3. How do you feel this play fits ACT 1's mission to produce classics: Classics from the past, modern classics, or plays that promise to be future classics.

4. Your vision for staging the play.

5. Resources (Do you have production team in mind? Who are they?) Casting, estimated cost of the production, a preferred time of year to direct the play (can be requested, but not guaranteed.)

Any ACT 1 board member may be contacted with questions. Submissions should be emailed to Hade at bedingerhade@juno.com, or mailed to the ACT 1 address: ACT 1, 1411 Eastland Avenue, Nashville, Tennessee 37206.

Deadline for submissions is December 6. The board will call back selected proposals for director interviews during January, 2010.

"We are hoping to have a 21^st Anniversary Season selected by the end of February, 2010," Hade said.
