It's time to name a new Queen of Coney Island, and the power is in your hands when Bambi the Mermaid presents The Ninth Annual Miss Coney Island Burlesque Beauty Pageant!
The Miss Coney Island Beauty Pageant was a tradition through the turn of the century, but died off during the depression. In 2002, the original Queen of Coney Island, Bambi the Mermaid, saw that the people of Coney Island needed something to lift their spirits and brought the pageant back, only with a new twist: Burlesque! Miss Coney Island leads the world famous Mermaid Parade every June, and serves as queen of Coney Island for a full calendar year. Every September, a new batch of fierce competitors strut, shake, and shimmy in the hope of becoming the new Miss Coney Island.
This year, the competition is as fierce as ever, featuring some of New York's most esteemed performers duking it out for this coveted crown! The Ninth Annual Miss Coney Island Burlesque Beauty Pageant stars B B Heart, Bambi Galore, Brooklyn Babydoll, Deity Delgado, Divina Gransparkle, Honi Harlow, Kat Mon Dieu, Kita St. Cyr, Maddy Mann, and Sizzle Dizzle! With the hottest stage kittens this side of Surf, Boo Boo Darlin' and Kitten Kabooty! Plus music by everyone's favorite burlesque house band, Fisherman's Xylophonic Burlesque Orchestra!
So come on down to the Sideshow and choose who will reign as Miss Coney Island 2012! Only those who attend have the chance to vote, so get there early and make your mark on Coney Island history!!!
